Rev. James Hollingsworth received the Holy Ghost 25 yrs ago during a revival service with Bro. Eli Hernandez in Princeton, IL. He continued to attend church at Princeton UPC with Rev. C.E. Gustafson as his pastor until he moved to Virginia.  While in Virginia he married his wife (Virginia) and attended Apostolic UPC of Winchester-Rev. Richard Fosdick. They later moved back to Princeton, IL, to be closer to family and that is where he received his calling into the ministry. While in Princeton, he served as a minister and youth leader under Rev. Ron Townsley for many years, and taught Sunday School and Excel classes through Texas Bible College.  He also attended and served as a teacher and minister in Mendota, IL, where Rev. Charles Yeakel is the pastor. From there he launched a daughter work in LaSalle-Peru, IL, and later received the status of North American Missions through the United Pentecostal Church International.

He gives honor to, and credits all four of his pastors over the past 25 years for helping develop the calling that God has placed on his life. He also gives a special thanks to Rev. Robert Frake (OH) and Sis. Marjorie Fosdick (WV) for teaching him home Bible Studies during his beginning years of serving God.  Without their time and effort, there would be no Calvary Apostolic Sanctuary in LaSalle-Peru.

Calvary Apostolic Sanctuary was first started in Ladd, IL, in October 2009. Pastor Hollingsworth began Thursday evening Bible Studies at the Ladd American Legion until we could find a facility and get on location in LaSalle Peru--which was the primary goal.

In Fall, 2010, we were blessed with a building in LaSalle (short term), and then relocated to a side section in our current building in the Spring of 2011.   Upon relocation, we started Sunday Evangelistic Services, Kidzchurch, and Thursday evening services, where we quickly viewed growth and wrestled with very cramped quarters.

In Spring, 2014, our landlord recognized that we had outgrown the facility we were in and blessed us with a beautiful new sanctuary at the front of his building---built to our specs.  (Check out our Facebook page for pictures.) We have consistently witnessed miracle after miracle in finances, healings, and most importantly, salvation at our current location.  God is doing great things in our city!

We invite you to be part of CAS; where we strive to provide a sanctuary where God will save, heal, and minister to your individual needs.  Our goal is to create an atmosphere of true worship unto God, to provide a safe haven from the daily stress of life, and to introduce you to a church family who has determination and vision to grow!
